Raw materials, semifinished products, finished items pertain to the basic products, as for to auxiliary ones they are not directly involved in the basic technological scheme of manufacture but ensure its conduction under constrained parameters (quenching water, steam, lubrication etc.).

Technological pipelines transport products in a very big range pressure (up to 250 pa), temperatures (from -196 to +700°С), along with the diversified chemical properties. Among these pipelines the important place is occupied with the pipelines working under pressure of up to 1 pa and temperatures up to 120 °C, including pipelines in which transported products cause intensive corrosion in pipes made of carbon steel.

The pipes made of nonmetallic materials do suit all these requirements.

Pipelines made of nonmetallic materials have an advantage over the steely ones. Owing to high corrosion resistance of nonmetallic pipelines the operating life does increase, e.g., the pipeline of steel of Х18Н10Т grade, transporting 10 % sulfuric acid breaks down after 1 year of running; the pipeline of ethylene polymer — after 4 years, as for viniplast — after 14 years. In fact, nonmetallic pipelines (especially plastic ones) easily take machining work, easily weld, conglutinate, efforts into manufacturing and installation of such pipelines are used much more less than into steel pipelines. Nonmetallic pipelines much lighter than steely ones (1 m pipe weight of 100 ou made of steel is 10.3 kg; made of polyethylene — 2,14 kg; kg polypropylene-1,64; viniplast — 3,3 kg; fluorine plastic — 5,54 kg). One should note one more advantage of these pipe connections over the steel ones: the minor roughness of an internal surface of nonmetallic pipes considerably allows increasing capacity of pipelines. When employing pipelines made of nonmetallic materials the thermal protection expenses are cut down thanks to their small heat conduction.

The major drawback of nonmetallic pipelines is low mechanical durability of materials from which pipes and details of pipelines are made of, particularly when temperature rises.
